Barton & Guestier was started by Thomas Barton, who founded his wine shipping company in 1725 in Bordeaux after emigrating from Ireland. When his grandson took over in 1802 he teamed up with Daniel Guestier, a French Trader, and created Barton & Guestier, now the oldest wine merchant in Bordeaux.
