Family: Gourd (Cucurbitaceae) Annual. 55 days to maturity. Midnight Lightning is a bush zucchini that produces long, narrow fruits of exceptional flavor, colored very dark green, almost “midnight black.” We found these to be fast-growing, insect and disease resistant and not very spiny (which is a nice feature when reaching in to clip off that first long thin zuk you’ve been hankering after all spring). Sow seed about 1 inch deep in the spring or summer garden. Space hills 3 to 5 feet apart. Thin to 3 best seedlings per hill.
