Hoedown Seed Collection, 12 packs of open-pollinated vegetable seeds, organic

$26.96 $46.9
I’m fairly new at gardening (this was my third season) and felt overwhelmed looking online and at catalogues trying to determine what to buy so I appreciated having the decision made for me. Out of this collection, I planted bush beans, snow peas, red kuri squash, corn, cucumber, yellow crookneck squash and the greens. I made a very small three sisters patch with the corn, yellow squash and some pole bean seeds that I had. It was a handsome arrangement. Next year, I will create some type of trellis or support for the snow peas. They germinated fine but they got intertwined and harvesting was a bit of a challenge. I planted the remaining pea seeds along a chain fence. As they were growing, I placed the lengthening ends of the plants closer to the fence so that they could extend their tendrils which worked. These were planted some time in August and I’m in zone 5A at about 1000ft. For a better fall harvest, I believe I’ll need to plant these earlier or maybe start them indoors first. I was able to make two mounds with the red kuri squash seeds and had a trellis set up. It seemed like only one plant was responsible for the fruit production. We ended up with 5 or 6 squash. The ones we’ve eaten have been delicious. The greens bolted quite quickly and after watching a lot of videos and reading online gardening sites, I think my soil was too dry and it was quite warm at the time of planting. That section of the garden is still providing some hearty greens which I’m happy about. So next season, these will be planted first in the early spring and later in the summer. I’ve been laying down a new compost layer so this should be easy to do. I didn’t plant the beets or carrots because I had some remaining seeds from previous packets. Thank you for putting this collection together! I learned a lot this growing season.
