Hi Adam, Right, sounds like you’re into some pretty thick extractions. I’ve pressed out marshmallow, ginseng, slippery elm, cactus and fresh peppers using our press. It works really well. I’ve also pressed out thick oils, glycerites and syrups with it, also with good results. Any mark you can press out by hand is going to press out much more easily using the press. I do have some tips. One, make sure your extract is nicely warmed up to a bit above room temp–this can help immensely with the kinds of thick solvents you’re using. Another is, use a couple of layers of natural cheesecloth instead of the high-tensile bags we provide. These are more permeable to thick fluids and can be composted after use, to limit cleanup. Lastly, press slowly and repack twice per pressing. If you bring it right up to high pressure without allowing the thick liquid to escape at its preferred rate, the outer portion of marc will go dry and you’ll have goosh in the middle. Repacking is to bring the press down, pull out the wad of wet mark, knead it by hand, then put back in press and repressurize. You’ll save time and effort, make your money back in increased potency and yield. Richo
